Mihintale Town Centre Re-development Project at Mihintale
- The Urban Development Authority (UDA) has prepared a plan to develop the Mihintale Town with facilities required for around 8,000 people that daily visit the town for various requirements as well as for the devotees and tourists who visit the town in the festive season. Under this plan it has been proposed to construct commercial buildings, a public market, a surface drain system, children's parks, public places, car parks and street seating places. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, to implement the Mihintale Town Centre Re-development Project, during the period from 2016 to 2019, at an estimated cost of Rs.200 million, was approved by the Cabinet.
