Relocation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- The Republic Building situated in Colombo Fort area, where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is presently located, is a building constructed in the British Colonial Era and it has been identified as a heritage that should be preserved. Accordingly, it is essential to shift the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to another place and the proposal made by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, to get a land in extent of 2 Acres, situated at Jawatta Road, Colombo, allocated for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which has been identified as suitable to construct a new building for that Ministry, was approved by the Cabinet.
