Construction of the Prison Complex, Jaffna - Phase II

- It has been designed to implement the project on construction of the Prison Complex in Pannai, Jaffna, to accommodate 1,000 detainees. The construction work of the Phase I of the project has been completed and declared opened with accommodation facilities for 130 inmates. Therefore, the proposal made by Hon. D.M Swaminathan, the Minister of Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs, to commence the construction work of Phase II of the project, at an estimated cost of Rs.623.32 million, was approved by the Cabinet.
