Construction of a New Three-Storeyed Building for the Divisional Secretariat, - Haliela

- The Divisional Secretariat, Haliela, situated in Badulla District, comprises of 57 Grama Niladhari Divisions and has a population exceeding 90,000. The Haliela Divisional Secretariat Office is presently housed in a very old building with minimum space and facilities, and as a result, the general public who come to receive its services are faced with various difficulties. Therefore, the proposal made by Hon. Vajira Abeywardena, the Minister of Home Affairs, to construct a three-storeyed building for the Divisional Secretariat, Haliela, at an estimated cost of Rs.176 million, in order to provide an efficient and effective service to the people of Haliela area as well as to provide a conducive work environment to the staff, was approved by the Cabinet.
