Ratnapura Expressway Project - Obtaining of Proposals for the Procurement of Civil Work Contracts
- The feasibility studies, preliminary designs and the environment impact assessments are underway, in respect of the proposed Ratnapura Expressway, 73.9 km in length, which is designed to run from Kahatuduwa Interchange of the Southern Expressway to Pelmadulla. The Export and Import Bank (EXIM) of China has agreed to provide funds for the civil construction works of this expressway. As per the recommendation of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Management (CCEM), the expressway is scheduled to be constructed under four (04) sections and accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, the Minister of Higher Education and Highways, to call for bids on technical and financial proposals in respect of each road section, from the companies recommended by the Chinese Government, was approved by the Cabinet.
