Granting of Loans for Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Sector Development and Employment Generation

- A sum of Rs.19,875 million has been allocated through the Budget - 2016, for the Rural Awakening Programme which has been designed to develop all Grama Niladhari Divisions of the country, by enhancing the livelihood and infrastructure facilities throughout the country. Therefore, the proposal made by the Prime Minister, Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, in his capacity as the Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, to implement a programme named 'Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Sector Development and Employment Generation', to implement a suitable loan scheme for the SME Sector, with a view to generating more and more employment opportunities therein, using Rs. 4,000 million out of the provisions so allocated, was approved by the Cabinet.
