Construction of a New Building for the District Secretariat, Kalutara

- Kalutara District in the Western Province is comprised of 14 Divisional Secretary's Divisions and 762 Grama Niladhari Divisions, with a total population of about 1,217,374. The District Secretariat of Kalutara where about 1,100 employees are working, is accommodated in a building of about 45 years old and the limited space therein is inadequate for the office staff and the public. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Vajira Abeywardena, the Minister of Home Affairs, to construct a new building for the District Secretariat, Kalutara, with necessary modifications that should be done to the current building, adjacent and connected to the existing building, at an estimated cost of Rs.110.3 million, was approved by the Cabinet.
