Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to be signed between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of Canada in respect of the National Languages Equality Advancement Project (NLEAP)
- The 'National Languages Equality Advancement Project' (NLEAP) is scheduled to be implemented from the year 2017, as a five year programme, with a view to promoting national co-existence, dialogue and official languages among the communities living in Sri Lanka and improving economic and social equality of Sinhala and Tamil speaking communities living in the country. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Mano Ganeshan, the Minister of National Co‑existence, Dialogue and Official Languages, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of Canada, for the implementation of the project, utilizing the Canadian Dollars (CAD) 11.2 million grant given by the Government of Canada, was approved by the Cabinet.
