New Villages Development Authority for Plantation Region

- The proposal made by Hon. Palani Digambaram, the Minister of Hill Country New Villages, Infrastructure and Community Development, to instruct the Legal Draftsman to draft legislation for the establishment of New Villages Development Authority for Plantation Region, to develop social, economic, cultural and infrastructure facilities and to ensure more active participation of the people living in the plantation areas in the national stream, through establishing new villages in plantation areas, and with the objective of empowering plantation community, as recommended by the Task Force appointed by the Cabinet to work on the establishment of new villages development authority for plantation regions, was approved by the Cabinet.
