Construction of proposed Commercial Complex and By-Pass Road at Gampola

- The Gampola Town situated in the Kandy District spreads over an area of 5.18 Sq.km and the Urban Development Authority (UDA) has planned to formally develop the Gampola Town, in order to provide necessary facilities for the people within the city limits quantitatively and qualitatively and to minimize the traffic congestion prevalent in the town. As the first stage of this project, it is expected to construct an alternative road to minimize the existing traffic congestion and to establish a Commercial Complex adjacent to the said road. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, to vest a block of land belonging to the Railway Department, with the UDA, for the said purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
