Annual bus fare revision - 2016

- The Expert Committee appointed for reviewing the policies and criteria on revising the bus fare prepared in the year 2002, also incorporating new criteria, if any, that should be used for the revision of annual bus fare, has submitted its recommendations, having also obtained the views and the suggestions of the representatives of the bus associations as well as the bus commuter associations. The Committee has recommended a revised bus fare increase of 6%, with a view to maintaining a proper public transport service and since it has to be formally implemented through the National Transport Commission (NTC), the Cabinet granted approval to effect the said increase of bus fare from 01st August 2016.
