Obtaining Financial Assistance for Implementation of Kelani Right Bank Water Supply Project Phase-II

- The approval of the Cabinet has already been granted for the implementation of the project on procuring infrastructure facilities including the construction of a new water treatment plant of 180,000 m3 to increase the capacity of the water treatment plant of the Kalani Right Bank, laying of treated water main pumping lines and a long water transmission line of 25 km, construction of the Wee Oya Reservoir and the supply and installation of inflatable rubber balloons as a salinity barrier. Therefore, the proposal made by Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, the Minister of Finance, to issue a treasury guarantee to obtain a credit facility amounting to the Rupee equivalent of Euro 13 million plus Rs.10 billion from a local bank, for the implementation of this project, was approved by the Cabinet.
