Allocation of Funds for the Development of Rural Infrastructure Facilities and Livelihood Development

- A budgetary provision of Rs.13.3 billion has been allocated for the programme on Development of Rural Infrastructure Facilities through the Budget - 2016 and the project is being implemented at present. As such, the proposal made by Hon. P. Harison, the Minister of Rural Economy, to implement a pilot project on development of rural infrastructure facilities and rural livelihood in the districts of Anuradhapura, Batticaloa and Polonnaruwa, targeting the communities which are not covered by the small scale infrastructure development programmes implemented by various institutions, at national and provincial levels, was approved by the Cabinet.
