Development of Infrastructure Facilities of the Universities of Sri Jayawardenapura, Sabaragamuwa, Jaffna, Kelaniya, Colombo, Peradeniya, Uva Wellassa and the South Eastern

- It has been planned to increase the number of students admitting to the Universities to follow Degree Courses under various subject streams annually by 5%. As such, in order to provide facilities for the increasing number of students, the proposal made by Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, the Minister of Higher Education and Highways, to commence the activities pertaining to the development of common infrastructure facilities in the Universities of Sri Jayawardenapura, Sabaragamuwa, Jaffna, Kelaniya, Colombo, Peradeniya and activities pertaining to the development of required infrastructure facilities to establish Information Technology (IT) Faculties in the Universities of Uva Wellassa, Sabaragamuwa and South Eastern, utilizing the financial provision of Rs.1,369 million allocated for the purpose in the year 2016, and to get the financial provisions required for the purpose in the years 2017 and 2018 from the General Treasury, was approved by the Cabinet.
