Leasing of the Old Chancery Building of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Washington D.C.

- The Sri Lanka Government owned building in Washington D.C., in which the office works of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the United States of America were conducted until recently, is now vacant and therefore, it has been observed that, it would be better to utilize the said building in an economically productive manner beneficial to the Government of Sri Lanka. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, to appoint a Technical Evaluation Committee, under the Chairmanship of the Sri Lankan Ambassador to the United States of America, to negotiate the terms and conditions pertaining to the leasing/renting of the said building and to proceed with the activities related thereto, was approved by the Cabinet.
