Development Projects on Rehabilitation & Resettlement 2016 : Development Projects implemented for the Resettled Families and Returnee Refugees in the Northern, Eastern Provinces and former threatened Villages

- A special budgetary provision of Rs.14 Billion was allocated though the budget proposals 2016, for the implementation of Resettlement and Rehabilitation projects in the year 2016, for the conflict affected areas in the Northern and Eastern Provinces and former threatened villages. Accordingly, the Cabinet noted the information submitted by Hon. D.M Swaminathan, the Minister of Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs, to the effect that the Ministry has implemented a number of development projects for the betterment of IDPs and returnee Refugees, including the construction of new houses, repair of partly damaged houses, provision of sanitation facilities, supply of safe drinking water, relocation of families, provision of livelihood assistance for IDP resettled families and returnee refugees, renovation of roads and development of infrastructural facilities in the relevant areas, under the budget proposals - 2016.
