Financial assistance for disaster relief and recovery

- The Cabinet was informed by Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, the Minister of Finance, to the effect that three (03) Bank accounts for the remittance of the financial donations received from local donors and five (05) accounts to deposit the donations received from foreign donors in different foreign currencies to provide relief to the people affected by the heavy floods and landslides which occurred in several districts of the island due to adverse weather conditions that prevailed in May 2016, have been opened and the funds accumulated into these accounts are credited daily, to the account opened in the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, in the name of the Deputy Secretary to the Treasury, to enable to be used for the relevant relief providing measures.
