Meeting of Heads of National Law Enforcement Agencies (HONLEA), Asia and Pacific Region
- The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) functions as the main and premier body in investigating into the global illicit drug racket and the supervision of the implementation of the international treaties on drug control is carried out by the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND). The Meeting of Heads of National Law Enforcement Agencies (HONLEA), Asia and Pacific Region, which functions as a subsidiary body of the Commission, deals with the new trends and matters pertaining to drugs within Asia and Pacific Region and it also provides the opportunity of exchanging views and knowledge on law enforcement against illicit drug rackets. Therefore, the proposal made by Hon. Sagala Rathnayake, the Minister of Law and Order and Southern Development, to provide relevant facilities to hold/conduct the above Conference in Colombo, from 22nd to 28th October 2016, was approved by the Cabinet.
