Disposal of garbage accumulated in certain areas of the Western Province due to the recent floods

- Hon. Faiszer Musthapha, the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government informed the Cabinet that the Joint Mission Programme initiated to dispose the garbage accumulated in certain areas of the Western Province expeditiously, including the Kolonnawa Divisional Secretariat Division, due to recent floods, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Army, Civil Security Department, Provincial Council of Western Province, Local Government Authorities, Department of Agrarian Development and Sri Lanka Land Reclamation & Development Corporation, was implemented successfully during the past 7 days disposing of around 5,440 Tons of garbage, during the period and that it has been decided to extend the implementation period of the above Joint Mission Programme up to 2016-06-12, as around 2,000 Tons of accumulated garbage is yet to be disposed.
