Consultancy Services for Design Review and Construction Supervision of Civil Works on Extension of Southern Expressway Project

- The Southern Expressway Extension Project consists of four main sections. The project which is of a total length of 96 km, covers Section one, from Matara to Beliatta (30 km), Section two, from Beliatta to Wetiya (26 km), Section three, from Wetiya to Andarawewa (15 km) and Section four, from Mattala to Hambantota via Andarawewa (25 km). The Government has already entered into four (04) Agreements with the China EXIM Bank to obtain funds for the four (04) civil work contracts involved in all the stages of this project and the proposal made by Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, the Minister of Finance, to enter into a Framework Agreement with the Government of People's Republic of China and a Loan Agreement with the China EXIM Bank to finance the consultancy services for the supervision of civil works of the project and design review, was approved by the Cabinet.
