Construction of a building containing the operation theatre and ward in the District General Hospital, Chilaw

- The District General Hospital, Chilaw, which is the main hospital in the Puttalam District of the North Western Province, provides patient care services to the people of Chilaw as well as the people of the surrounding areas. It has been found necessary to demolish the existing deteriorating operating theatre building and construct a modern operating theatre and a ward in the same location, to conduct the surgical work of the hospital in the stipulated manner and therefore, Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition & Indigenous Medicine informed the Cabinet to the effect that the Contract for the purpose has been awarded to the State Development & Construction Corporation.
