Policy Framework and National Plan of Action to address Sexual and Gender-based Violence (SGBV)

- The Government has given priority to the enactment and enforcement of new laws for elimination of abuse and violence against women and children. Accordingly, the policy framework and the action plan to address gender-based violence, drafted under 09 fields, namely child affairs, disaster management, education, economic development and employment, foreign employment, empowerment and prevention, health, justice and law reforms and media, with the views and concurrence of Public Institutions, International and local Non-Governmental organizations, Community based organizations and representatives of the Civil organizations, presented to the Cabinet by Hon. (Mrs.) Chandrani Bandara, the Minister of Women and Child Affairs, was approved by the Cabinet.
