Holding of the Fourth General Assembly of the Asian Food and Agriculture Cooperation Initiative (AFACI) in Sri Lanka

- The Asian Food and Agriculture Cooperation Initiative (AFACI), which is an International organization, established with the aim of contributing towards the economic development of the Asian regional countries, through the technical co-operation for the sustainable agriculture and agriculture and food production, consists of 14 member countries, at present. This organization provides technical and financial assistance for different agricultural projects in Sri Lanka and presently, under this scheme, 11 research projects are being operated in Sri Lanka. At present, Sri Lanka holds the Chairmanship of this organization and accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Duminda Dissanayake, the Minister of Agriculture, to conduct the fourth General Assembly of the organization, which has been scheduled to be held from 17th to 21st of May 2016, in Sri Lanka, was approved by the Cabinet.
