Upgrading of Health Facilities in selected Hospitals under Chinese Financial Assistance

- The proposal made by Hon. (Dr) Rajitha Senarathne, the Minister of Health Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, for the purchase of the essential medical equipment and to construct buildings for the selected hospitals, covering provincial hospitals as well, resulting in the improvement of health facilities in all the provinces in the country, within a financial limit of US$ 85 million, agreed to be provided by the Chinese Government, altering the scope of the above project designed in the year 2010, to suit the present conditions, with a view to upgrading the health facilities in the Northern and Eastern provinces which had been severely affected due to the conflict which continued for three decades, was approved by the Cabinet.
