Election of Hon. Gamini Jayawickrama Perera as Chair and Hon. S.B. Dissanayake as a Vice Chair of the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development for the year 2016

- The Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD 2016) organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) was held in Bangkok from 3rd to 5th April 2016. A preliminary agreement has been reached, at this Forum, on a Regional Road Map for implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the establishment and functioning of the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development including the follow up and review process of the Forum. The Cabinet noted with appreciation that Hon. Gamini Jayawickrama Perera, the Minister of Sustainable Development and Wildlife has been elected as the Chair and Hon. S.B. Dissanayake, the Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare as a Vice Chair of the Asia - Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development, for the year 2016.
