Purchasing of a Land and Construction of a Building Complex for the proposed Faculty of Medicine in the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka

- The Wayamba University of Sri Lanka which was established as a national university in the year 1999 is comprised of four (04) faculties of studies, at present. It has been decided to establish a Medical Faculty in the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka with the objective of enhancing medical education, liaising with the General Hospital, Kurunegala, which has gained a tremendous development in recent past. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, the Minister of Higher Education and Highways, to purchase a land for the purpose, to provide infrastructure facilities and to construct the buildings required, was approved by the Cabinet.
