Regularization of the functions of the Local Government Authorities whose Term of Office has been extended

- The Term of Office of a number of Local Government Authorities whose term of office has expired, has been extended by the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government under the powers vested in him. Since the Minister in charge of the subject of Local Government has been receiving complaints to the effect that irregularities occur in the officials duties of certain Local Government Authorities of which such term of office has been extended a Committee comprising of the Deputy Secretary to the Treasury, Secretary, Ministry of Provincial Councils and Local Government and the Chief Secretary of the Western Provincial Council has been appointed to examine such complaints and make recommendations. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Faiszer Musthapha, the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government, to take necessary action as per the recommendations of the said Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
