Recent Power Blackout and Supply of Electricity without interruption

- After a comprehensive discussion regarding the recent power blackout and the measures to be taken for the provision of Electricity without interruption in future, the Cabinet reached the following decisions:

(i) to implement recommendations in the Reports submitted by the Committees appointed to examine the simultaneous Power Blackout in the country and make recommendations by H.E. the President with the Chairmanship of the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy and by the Hon. Prime Minister with the Chairmanship of Mr. C. Maliyadde.

(ii) to take necessary action to purchase the electricity power, only absolutely necessary, from the private sector in order to face the power generation limits that could be arisen, if there is no adequate rain in the coming days.
