Providing money to Farmers for Purchasing of Fertilizer as per the Budget Proposals - 2016

- The proposal made by Hon. Duminda Dissanayake, the Minister of Agriculture, for payment of money, in cash, according to the budget proposal 2016, instead of the fertilizer subsidy programme which was effective previously, to enable the farmers to buy the required fertilizer from the open market as per their necessity, for around one million farmers scattered around the Island, being Rs.25,000 per hectare up to a maximum of two hectares for the Yala season in 2016, was approved by the Cabinet.
