Proposed Social Welfare Centre at Mattakkuliya

- It has been proposed to construct a Social Welfare Centre at Mattakkuliya with a view to creating a good day-to-day life for the under privileged and the low income groups living in the Colombo North Urban Area. The building which is proposed to be constructed by the Urban Development Authority in collaboration with the Colombo Municipal Council will have child and maternity clinics, healthcare centres, e-channeling, a library, a gym, carom, chess etc; and common office facilities. The construction of the building will be completed within one year and after completion the ownership of the building and its management will be vested with the Colombo Municipal Council. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development to implement the project for the construction of the proposed Welfare Centre at Mattakkuliya at a cost of Rs.250 million, was approved by the Cabinet.
