Construction of a New Building for the Divisional Secretariat, Homagama

- Divisional Secretariat, Homagama is the one which comprises the most number of Grama Niladhari Divisions and covers the largest area out of the thirteen (13) Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Colombo District. The extent of this Divisional Secretariat Division is 11,815.5 hectares and the number of families residing there is around 60,425. The pensioners residing in the area are around 10,000 and the total population there is around 250,000. Adequate facilities are not available in the building where the Divisional Secretariat is housed presently and therefore, with a view to providing a more efficient and an effective service to the general public, the proposal made by Hon. Vajira Abeywardena, the Minister of Home Affairs, to construct a three (03) storied building for the above Secretariat , at a cost of Rs.286.66 million, was approved by the Cabinet.
