World Expo 2017 - Astana, Kazakhstan

- The 'World Expo' exhibition is held biennially in major cities of the world, under different themes and this year's exhibition is scheduled to be held in Astana, Kazakhastan from the 10th of June to 10th of September, 2017, under the theme of 'Future Energy'. The Republic of Kazakhstan has invited Sri Lanka to take part in the said exhibition. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Rishad Bathiudeen, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, to appoint a Commissioner General to organize the Sri Lanka's participation at this exhibition and to provide the opportunity for the small and medium sector producers of horticulture and related products in Sri Lanka, to be involved in the Exposition through an accepted methodology, was approved by the Cabinet.
