Extension of the Agreement on Colombo Port City Development Project with the Government of Sri Lanka

- Due to the environmental issues that have arisen, the activities of the Colombo Port City Development Project has been suspended since February 2015 and a comprehensive and formal Environmental Impact Assessment Report on the Project was called for. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Management has recommended to allow the re-commencement of the activities of the Colombo Port City Development Project, subject to certain matters to be resolved in future and within the fixed limits and conditions indicated in the said Report. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranil Wickramasinghe, the Prime Minister, to extend the Agreement entered into with the relevant Project Company by the Government of Sri Lanka, for a further period of six (06) months from 15th March 2016, was approved by the Cabinet.
