The project for issuing Vehicle Emission Test Certificates

- The contract period of the two companies which entered into contracts with the Department of Motor Traffic, to operate the authorized Vehicle Emission Test Centres islandwide for the purpose of issuing vehicle emission certificates, to effect the vehicle emission standards, is due to expire on 2016-07-01. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Nimal Siripala De Silva, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, to commence the procurement activities to select few suitable private sector companies as contractors for the implementation of vehicle emission standards by establishing Vehicle Emission Test Centres for the period of next five (05) years and to establish Test Centres of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) in the nine (09) Provinces to bring in line the vehicles owned by the SLTB with this programme, was approved by the Cabinet.
