Expansion of the role of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Management

- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Management, chaired by the Hon. Prime Minister, has been established to make recommendations to the Cabinet, on the matters pertaining to economic affairs, monetary and fiscal policy, National Investment Programme, facilitation of private sector investment and implementation of various legislation which are directly applicable to the investment and economic development of the country, etc. The proposal made by the Prime Minister, Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, to introduce an appropriate mechanism, for the efficient implementation of the recommendations made to the Cabinet by the said Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
