Revision of salaries of the Public Service – 2016

- The Budget 2016, proposed to revise the salaries of the Public Service by adding special allowances given in addition to the basic salary, presently entitled by the Public Servants and the interim monthly allowance of Rs.10,000 given as per the Election Manifesto of H.E. the President, to the basic salary, in phases. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranjith Madduma Bandara, the Minister of Public Administration and Management, to implement the new Salary structure, prepared as per the recommendation of the National Pay Commission and in concurrence with the Ministry of Finance, to be effective from 2016-01-01 and to issue the relevant Circular instructions accordingly, was approved by the Cabinet.
