Greater Colombo Transmission and Distribution Loss Reduction Project, Package No-1 (Lot-1): Construction of Grid Substations and Package - No-2: Construction & Distribution Cables

- The basic objective of this project is to enhance the transmission and distribution network in the Greater Colombo area, in order to strengthen the transmission and distribution system and increase the reliability of power supply and reduce transmission losses, thereby contributing to economic development in the said area. A loan of 15.9 Billion of Japanese Yen will be provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the project planned to be implemented under 03 procurement packages. Accordingly, the proposals made by Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, to award the contracts for the construction of the Grid Substations and distribution cables, to the suitable bidders, as per the recommendations made by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee, were approved by the Cabinet.
