Memoranda of Understanding between the Government of Sri Lanka and the South Asia Institute affiliated to the Heidelberg University of the Federal Republic of Germany and German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

- It has been proposed to establish a 'Sri Lankan studies' Section in the South Asian Institute of the University of Heidelberg and to appoint Sri lankan academics to the Section so established. Further, it is proposed to exchange the university lecturers between the Governments of Sri Lanka and Germany, for study and research activities. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, the Minister of Higher Education and Highways, to enter into two (02) Memoranda of Understanding between the Ministry of Higher Education and Highways of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the South Asia Institute affiliated to the Heidelberg University of the Federal Republic of Germany and German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) respectively, during the forthcoming visit of H.E. the President to Germany, was approved by the Cabinet.
