Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2016-02-10

Conducting the 53rd Conference of the Directors General of Civil Aviation of the Asia - Pacific Region in Sri Lanka in August 2016

- The Directors General of Civil Aviation who head the national civil aviation regulatory authorities of the countries in the Asia – Pacific Region conducts an annual Conference since 1960, with a view to working together on a common platform in respect of the international rules and standards pertaining to the civil aviation service, in order to ensure safety, security, regularity and efficiency of air transportation within their respective states and across borders. This Conference is the most important meeting in the annual Asia – Pacific regional aviation programme of the International Civil Aviation Organization. Therefore, the proposal made by Hon. Nimal Siripala De Silva, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, to hold the 53rd Conference of the Directors General of Civil Aviation of the Asia - Pacific Region, from the 01st to 05th August, 2016, in Sri Lanka, under the theme of “Fostering safe, secure and efficient aviation system in an eco - friendly environment with no country left behind”, was approved by the Cabinet.
