UNITERRA Volunteer Co-operation Programme
- UNITERRA is a volunteer co-operation and international development programme which is jointly implemented by the World University Service of Canada (WUSE) and the Centre for International Studies and Co-operation (CECI) in Canada. It has been planned to implement this programme in Sri Lanka, during the period of 2016-2020, and the proposed programme will be implemented in relation to the sectors of Tourism & Hospitality and Apparels. The Government of Canada will spend an amount of Canadian dollars 2.7 million for this programme to be implemented covering about 80,000 beneficiaries, during the period of 2016-2020. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, the Prime Minister, in his capacity as the Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Canada, for the implementation of the above programme in Sri Lanka, was approved by the Cabinet.
