Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Power & Renewable Energy of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of the Federal Republic of Germany on Co-operation on Sustainable Development in the Energy Sector of Sri Lanka
- The proposal made by Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, to sign the Memorandum of Understanding for the Co-operation on Sustainable Development in the Energy Sector of Sri Lanka, consists of the development of electricity generation projects in renewable energy, research and development in relation to enhancing renewable energy electricity absorption capacity into the national electricity grid, development of the plants and equipment used in the renewable energy based electricity generation, manufacturing of such plants and equipment with the use of local raw materials, introduction of clean technologies for thermal power generation, training and education in relation to renewable energy development, between the Ministry of Power & Renewable Energy of Sri Lanka and the Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of the Federal Republic of Germany, during the state visit of H.E. the President, to the Federal Republic of Germany, on the 16th and 17th February of this year, was approved by the Cabinet.
