Allocation of a land to establish a Regional Centre of the Open University of Sri Lanka, at Badulla

- The Open University of Sri Lanka has been established for the purpose of providing a quality higher education to those who miss the university entrance as well as the other higher education opportunities. It has been planned to establish a Regional Centre of that University in the Badulla District. This will provide special opportunities for the school leavers and the youth in the Uva Province, especially in the Badulla District to pursue their higher studies. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, the Minister of Higher Education and Highways, to vest the land in extent of 02 acres, 02 roods and 3.2 perches at Hingurugamuwa of the Badulla Divisional Secretariat of the Badulla District, identified as suitable for the establishment of the Regional Centre, to the Open University of Sri Lanka, was approved by the Cabinet.
