Capacity Building Project for Sri Lanka's Forensic Science Agencies and Officials
- Digital evidence and DNA analysis which are considered as the two main sources of modern forensic science, play a vital role in the investigation of many criminal cases. Accordingly, the Cabinet noted the information submitted by the Prime Minister, Hon. Ranil Wickramasinghe, in his capacity as the Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs that in order to widen the capacity of acquiring Digital evidence and conducting DNA analysis in the country, a project for the enhancement of the capacity building of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Government Analyst's Department (GAD), in the said fields, will be implemented under a grant aid equivalent to US$ 3.2 million provided by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
