Strengthening the Plantation Management Monitoring Division

- The land ownership of 465 large scale estates belong to the Janatha Estates Development Board and the Sri Lanka State Plantation Corporation, which have been on a lease out to 23 Regional Plantation Companies, still remains with the Government and the protection of the interests of the Government is executed through the Plantation Management Monitoring Division functions under the Ministry of Plantation Industries. Therefore, the proposal made by Hon. Navin Dissanayake, the Minister of Plantation Industries, for the strengthening of the Plantation Management Monitoring Division, in order to increase the productivity and level of quality of the plantations in these estates, was approved by the Cabinet.
