Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2016-01-06

The 6th South Asian Conference on Sanitation (SACOSAN) to be held in Bangladesh from January 11 - 13, 2016

- The South Asian Conference on Sanitation (SACOSAN) is held on a biennial basis in the SAARC countries. The objective of this Conference is to accelerate the process of promoting the sanitation and hygiene and enhancing the quality of the lives of the people in South Asia. Obtaining the political cooperation towards maintaining a better sanitation in the region is also expected from this Conference. The Sixth Session of this Conference is to be held in Bangladesh from 11th to 13th January, 2016. The Cabinet noted the information submitted by Hon. Rauff Hakeem, the Minister of City Planning and Water Supply, that necessary action has been taken to enable the participation of a group representing Sri Lanka in this Conference, comprising of government officials, development partners, civil society organizations and school children.
