Amendment of Pradeshiya Sabhas Act for the Welfare of Estate Workers

- It has been identified that there is a great necessity of removing the existing legal impediments, for the successful implementation of the programmes conducted by the Government, with a view to providing the public utilities required for the estate settlements. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Faiszer Musthapha, the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government, to draft necessary legislation to amend the relevant provisions of the Pradeshiya Sabhas Act, No.15 of 1987, enabling the provision of public utility services required for the estate settlements, was approved by the Cabinet.
