Programme for Introducing the ‘Virusara' Privilege Card for War Heroes

- It has been decided to introduce a privilege card known as 'Virusara', so that the War Heroes of the Tri- Forces, the Police and the Civil Security Department, who laid their lives, found missing and who were disabled during the active service for building peace and upholding the sovereignty of Sri Lanka and their dependents could obtain privileges. Through this card, they would be able to have special privileges when purchasing consumer items and obtaining services in number of fields such as health, education, banking, insurance and leasing. Accordingly, as the first phase of this programme, this card will be provided to 50,000 War Heroes. The Cabinet noted the information submitted by H.E. the President, Maithripala Sirisena, in his capacity as the Minister of Defence, that the ceremony for awarding the privilege card to the 5,000 of War Heroes and their dependents, will be held on 2016.01.25 at the Temple Trees under the patronage of H.E. the President, and with the participation of Hon. Prime Minister and the State Minister of Defence.
