Southern Transport Development Project - Implementation of the newly identified projects out of the balance funds of the project, for the construction of south section from Pinnaduwa to Godagama

- The EXIM Bank of China has granted funds for the construction of the south section from Pinnaduwa to Godagama, under the Southern Transport Development Project and there is a further saving of around Sri Lankan Rs.2 billion, after the implementation of the project. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, the Minister of Higher Education and Highways, to improve the local roads and bridges associated with the Southern Expressway and purchase special vehicles required for the operation of the Expressway, by utilizing the said balance amount, was approved by the Cabinet.
