The Supply, Installation and Commissioning of ADS-B System in Sri Lanka
- The Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) is an Aircraft Surveillance System used in the modern world for Air Traffic Control purposes. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has recommended the use of ADS-B under the Asia Pacific Regional Air Navigation Implementation Plans and Asian countries such as India, Maldives, Bangladesh, Singapore and Malaysia have already deployed ADS-B. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Nimal Siripala De Silva, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, to award the contract for the Supply, Installation and Commissioning of the ADS-B network system in Sri Lanka, as recommended by the Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (CAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
