Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2015-12-02

Appointing a Committee comprising of Senior Officials of the Government to inquire into the Legality of Transactions Performed on the Tender Process for Selecting Two Companies for the Procurement of Spare Parts required for Buses of the Sri Lanka Transport Board

- The proposal made by Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, to appoint a Committee comprising of senior officials of government institutions, including the General Treasury, Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation and Sri Lanka Customs, to inquire into the process of selecting two private companies to purchase spare parts for the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) since 2011, the irregularities reported to have been committed by the said companies by utilizing the tax concessions received the time of import of spare parts, and to examine the legality of the agreements entered into between Sri Lanka Transport Board and the said companies, was approved by the Cabinet.
